Sending mail from shared inbox in TB

+1
−0

I have set up my shared inboxes in Thunderbird (the TUD-managed Ubuntu 22.04) and I am able to receive my mail to all of the shared inboxes but not able to send mail from them. The error I get is the following (I removed my netID for the purpose of sharing the error here):

Sender address rejected: not owned by user <myNetID>@tudelft.net\datasteward-ME.

The configuration for the outgoing server:

server name: smtp-a.tudelft.nl
port: 465
connection security: SSL/TLS
authentication method: Normal password
username: <myNetID>@tudelft.net\datasteward-ME

I am the owner of the inbox. Anyone know what's going on?

I replicated this with one of my shared mailboxes. When I tried to send an e-mail, I get: Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: <cg-cs-ewi@tudelft.nl>: Sender address rejected: not owned by user myNetID@tudelft.net\cg-cs-ewi. I was following the manual from (https://filelist.tudelft.nl/Studentenportal/Centraal/ICT/Manuals/Email/Thunderbird.pdf) for this, so I'll write a ticket to investigate.

I got an answer from ICT Support, they want to come by and look at the problem - stay tuned!
